Neal Froneman is the CEO of Sibanye-Stillwater and was appointed an executive director on 24 February 2020. Over the past seven years he has led the transformation of Sibanye-Stillwater from a 1.5Moz South Africa-based gold producer into a leading precious metals miner with an international operating footprint ranking among the world’s top three PGM producers. His career spans more than 37 years during which time he worked at Gold Fields Limited (Gold Fields), Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited (Harmony) and JCI Limited. In April 2003, Neal was appointed CEO of Aflease Gold Limited (Aflease Gold), which, through a series of reverse take-overs, became Gold One International Limited (Gold One) in May 2009. He was primarily responsible for the creation of Uranium One Incorporated (Uranium One) from the Aflease Gold uranium assets. During this period, he was CEO of Aflease Gold and Uranium One Incorporated until his resignation from Uranium One Incorporated in February 2008. He held the CEO position at Gold One until his appointment at Sibanye-Stillwater. In May 2016, he was elected to serve as a Vice President of the Minerals Council South Africa.

Jacob Dawid Mostert

Dawie Mostert is the appointed Chief Organisational Growth Officer (COGO) of Sibanye-Stillwater. He has more than 21 years’ experience in the mining industry and was appointed on 1 January 2013 as Senior Vice President: Organisational Effectiveness, focused on introducing new operating and business models in support and directing the turnaround at Sibanye-Stillwater post the unbundling from Gold Fields. With Sibanye-Stillwater adopting value creation as its strategic intent and consequently entering the PGM mining sector, he accepted the position and role as Executive Vice President: Commercial Services and more recently, Executive Vice President: Organisational Growth, focused primarily on leading the organisational culture development strategy and development of business systems that enable the development of top and senior management, senior talent and succession management culminating in future ready Leaders. Prior to joining Sibanye-Stillwater, he served as Vice President: Commercial Services at Gold One in 2012 and Vice President: Human Capital at Great Basin Gold Limited (Great Basin Gold) from 2006 to 2012. Prior to joining Great Basin Gold in 2006, he was Executive: Organisational Development and Employee Relations at Harmony from 2002 to 2006. Dawie joined Harmony in 1996 as part of the merger and acquisition transformational team playing a leading organisational integration role. During 2001 to 2002 he was appointed Mine Manager at the then Elandsrand mine leading a management team post the integration phase.

Robert Van Niekerk

Robert van Niekerk was appointed as Chief Technical and Innovation Officer for the Group from 31 May 2022 expanding his previous role as Chief Technical Officer. Previously he served as the Executive Vice President: Group Technical Services (from April 2020), Executive Vice President: SA PGM operations (from July 2017 to April 2020), Divisional CEO: Platinum and Executive Vice President: Organisational Effectiveness.

Prior to joining Sibanye-Stillwater (in February 2013), he was the Senior Vice President and Group Technical Head of Mining at Gold Fields. He previously occupied several senior operational and executive management positions at Harmony, Anglo American Platinum Corporation Limited (Anglo American Platinum), Uranium One and Gold One. Robert began his mining career in 1982 as a Learner Official and progressed through the ranks at a number of South African underground and surface mining operations locally and outside of South Africa.

Kleantha Pillay

Executive Vice President: Sales & Marketing

Kleantha Pillay is the Executive Vice-President: Sales & Marketing at Sibanye-Stillwater. Kleantha joined Sibanye-Stillwater as VP Marketing in May 2019 and was responsible for building the PGM Sales and Marketing function in SA, facilitating the company’s entry into the market. Prior to this, she was the Head of Market Development at Anglo American, responsible for identifying, managing and commercialising opportunities to develop global markets for platinum group metals (PGMs). Kleantha also spent 4 years at Sasol Limited, where she was Assistant to the Chief Executive. Her portfolio included work across strategy, communications, investor relations and special projects. Kleantha started her career in management consulting with McKinsey & Company, working primarily in the basic materials and consumer goods industries across South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and the UK. She has over 19 years’ experience.

Thabisile Phumo

Thabisile Phumo is Executive Vice President: Stakeholder Relations at Sibanye-Stillwater. She has over 25 years’ experience in corporate affairs in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Sibanye-Stillwater in January 2014, she was Head of Corporate Communication and Branding at Anglo American Platinum.

She has served in several roles in the corporate affairs environment at the University of South Africa, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Commission for Gender Equality. She has been involved in the academic environment as a course facilitator and academic contributor to published works.

Richard Andrew Stewart

Richard Stewart, is in the position of Chief Regional Officer: Southern Africa from 31 May 2022, subsequent to being the Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) from 1 December 2020. Prior to being COO, Richard was the Executive Vice President: Business Development at Sibanye-Stillwater. Richard has more than 21 years’ experience in South Africa’s geological and mining industries and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa and a Registered Natural Scientist. He joined the Group in 2014, and has contributed significantly to a successful and value-accretive acquisition and growth strategy. Prior to joining Sibanye-Stillwater, he served on the Gold One Executive Committee from 2009, where his last appointment was Executive Vice President: Technical Services. Prior to this Richard served as CEO of Goliath Gold Limited, held management positions at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Mining Technology division, Dunrose Trading 186 Proprietary Limited trading as Shango Solutions and Uranium One, and was an investment consultant for African Global Capital Proprietary Limited.

Alex Fenn (Pr.Eng.)

As Unit Manager, I am responsible for Safe Technology and Innovation related projects; under the Health, Safety and Technology Executive for Sibanye Resources' Gold and Platinum divisions. My operational responsibility includes safety related projects and asset standard management for mobile machinery (RBE and TMM) for the Gold Division. My technology development and implementation portfolio is inclusive of both Gold and Platinum Divisions and consists of the Stope Mechanisation Programme, Mine Digitisation Programme, Current Mining Horizon Improvement Programme, Mechanised Stability Pillar Extraction Programme and Advanced Transport Programme, each of which has a specific subset of applicable research and development projects.

Fatima Collins is a Development Advisory and Impact consultant that has worked across various industries in four countries. Her experience over a 20-year career includes renewable energy for a World Bank project at the DBSA, corporate banking in Mumbai and socio-economic strategy and design. Recognizing that infrastructure development is a key driver for sustainable social and economic development, Fatima was instrumental in setting up the development advisory unit of a civil engineering business. Among her expertise, Fatima specializes in socioeconomic development strategy and implementation; enterprise development strategy; Corporate Social Investment strategy; project management; stakeholder management and integrated annual reporting.

Fatima is passionate about development on the African continent.

She believes that conscious business strategies designed to address social issues profitably, will lead to sustainable communities that contribute to the growth and development of Africa. Presently, Fatima is the Project Manager for Women in Mining at Sibanye Stillwater. Fatima holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town and is a certified yoga practitioner.

Dr Thuthula Balfour M.Inst.D

I am a qualified medical doctor and public health medicine specialist with an MBA. I have a wealth of management experience that spans 20 years, 17 of which have been at a strategic level. I have gained experience in varied settings across the public and private sectors.

My key strengths lie in strategic leadership and analysis, advocacy and lobbying and stakeholder management.

In addition, I have served on several boards including the Medical University of Southern Africa, Department of Labour’s Compensation Board and Department of Mineral Resource’s Mine Health and Safety Committee. I currently serve on the board of an NGO, Vuyani Dance Theatre. Patron for Women in Mining South Africa (WIMSA).
